Fine bank holiday period for many

Fine weather

The next few days bring a lot of fine and warm weather to much of the country. Southern and central regions become hot with temperatures climbing above 30C (86F) in places. The north west remains more changeable at times. Bank Holiday Monday continues to look good for most but there is a possibility of scattered showers....READ IN FULL

Friday starts with rain in northern Scotland but through the day it gradually clears. The rest of the country will be dry. Cloud amounts vary with the best of the sunshine generally in southern and central counties. The weather for the third Ashes Test Match which resumes at Headingley today is looking promising.

Temperatures range from 18C (64F) in the north west to a very warm 27C (81F) in the south east and East Anglia. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow there will be further rain in the north west. Across the north generally there is likely to be quite a lot of cloud. Southern and central regions have a dry and sunny day. It will be very warm and in the south east temperatures could reach 30C (86F).

Bank Holiday Monday

Sunday is looking fine and sunny periods develop widely. Temperatures could locally reach 33C (91F) in southern and central England. The warmth spreads northwards and 25C (77F) is possible in Scotland.

The summery weather continues for most on Bank Holiday Monday, although outbreaks of rain may push into the far north west. In other areas there is a low risk of isolated showers but it will be mostly dry and sunny. Temperatures in the south exceed 30C (86F).

By Tuesday it may start to turn cooler but there should be more fine weather in the south and east. In the north and west outbreaks of rain are possible. 

Through the rest of the week cooler and more changeable conditions become established in the north. In the south some showery rain is possible but there a good deal of dry weather is expected.
