GFS, forecast pressure and precipitation, 15:00 GMT Sun 18th November
During the first few days of next week it will turn cold as an easterly flow becomes established. On Monday scattered showers affect eastern counties but elsewhere it remains dry.
Through Tuesday and Wednesday an area of low pressure deepens to the south of the UK. That leads to increasingly showery conditions spreading northwards. The showers could merge to give longer spells of rain and and there is a risk of them becoming wintry at times. Over high ground there is the likelihood of snow with accumulations possible above 200m.
Through the second half of the week the low pressure area pushes northward keeping the weather changeable. The cold air is expected to be be steadily mixed out, so showers turn back to rain away from high ground in the north and temperatures edge upwards.
