Saturday starts with wet weather in western and northern England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere it is mostly dry and exceptionally mild. In places temperatures did not fall below 20C (68F) last nigh! Today the rain pushes northwards into Scotland and it eases off in Wales and the south west. Central and eastern England stay dry and sunny spells develop. It could become exceptionally warm for the time of year, but windy too, and the combination will give a tropical feel to the day. Later in the day the area of strongest winds moves northeastwards, and it calms down in southern and central counties.
Maximum temperatures range from 8C (46F) in the north west to a balmy 26C (78F) in East Anglia. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Winter 2018/19 weather - update 2
Tonight further outbreaks of rain develop in the south west and they push northeastwards across much of England and Wales. Rain continues in Scotland too, but elsewhere it should be mainly dry. It will be very mild in central and eastern England.
Tomorrow heavy rain in England slowly clears eastwards but the south eastern corner could remain wet for most of the day. Brighter and cooler conditions follow from the west but in the north west scattered showers bubble up. It will be less windy than recently.
DWD ICON, forecast rain, 16:00 BST Sun 14th October
The remnants of Sunday's rain could still be affecting the south east and East Anglia on Monday morning but they should clear quite quickly. A ridge of high pressure brings drier conditions to much of the country but in the north west there is a likelihood of patchy spells of rain pushing in from the Atlantic.
During Tuesday and Wednesday it stays quite unsettled with wet and windy periods of weather in the north. Outbreaks of rain are expected to spread southeastwards at times but become lighter and patchier in the process. Temperatures will be close to the seasonal average.
Through the second half of the week the changeable theme continues. The wettest and windiest spells are expected to be in the north. High pressure should keep southern counties drier for much of the time.
