The incredible summer continues and this week could be the hottest of the year so far in the south and east. The north and west remains more changeable but there will be some fine and warm days. This weekend temperatures probably ease for a time....READ IN FULL
Monday begins with showery rain in parts of the north but southern and central regions are fine. During the day a band of rain affects western Scotland and Northern Ireland and ahead of it in northern England some thundery showers may break out. Southern and central regions remain hot and dry with sunny periods.
Maximum temperatures range from 18C (64F) in far north west to close to 33C (91F) in the south east. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

The month ahead - July
Tonight the band of rain slips southeastwards into Wales and northern England. Elsewhere it will be dry and in the south it remains very warm and humid.
Tomorrow southern and central regions have hot and sunny periods but there is a chance of isolated thundery showers. Northern England and Wales have patchy spells of rain but Scotland and Northern Ireland will be brighter and fresher.

On Wednesday a mostly dry day with variable amounts of cloud is expected although the odd shower is possible. The heat spreads northwards again and in the south temperatures peak at close to 33C (91F).
Thursday and Friday are expected to be dry and hot in most of the country. The risk of thundery showers could increase and later on more persistent rain spreads into Northern Ireland and possibly western Britain.
By the weekend a cooler air mass probably returns from the west but there should be continue to be a lot of fine weather. Temperatures take a dip in all regions but in the south it remains warm.

Next week it is expected be very warm or hot in much of the country. Some recent computer model runs have shown exceptional temperatures in the south.
