Rain spreading eastwards

[Updated 06:50 07/11/2017]

Wet weather

All areas have rain at times in the next few days. By the weekend colder and brighter weather returns as high pressure in the mid-Atlantic opens the gates to a northwesterly flow.

Tuesday starts with very heavy rain in western Wales, western England and much of Scotland. Areas to the east and west are mostly dry. Through the day the wet weather steadily pushes eastwards, reaching the south eastern corner by the evening. Brighter skies return to central and western regions.

Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in the north to 12C (54F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

Tonight the rain continues in the south eastern corner. Elsewhere clear spells form and there will be a frost in the north and west.

Tomorrow begins damp in the south east but it should turn drier and brighter quite quickly. Elsewhere it starts off fine but cloud builds and rain pushes into Northern Ireland and Scotland.

On Thursday the southern half of the UK has a good deal of cloud and some patchy rain. The north will be brighter but in northern Scotland showers develop.

During Friday outbreaks of rain spread southeastwards and colder air follows from the northwest. The weekend is expected to be cold and showery. Over high ground in the north it will be cold enough for snow and even at lower levels showers may be wintry.
