Monday starts dry and frosty across most of the UK but there is some patchy rain and snow in the far north west. There are also a few wintry showers near to the east coast of England.

Through the day outbreaks of rain push southeastwards across the northern half of the UK. Over the Scottish hills they will be preceded by a period of snow. Southern and central areas have a mainly dry day with the brightest conditions in East Anglia and the south east.

Cold in most areas with temperatures ranging from 3C (37F) to 6C (42F). However, it will be milder in the far north west where 11C (52F) could be reached. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Changeable and rather cold

Wednesday is looking breezy with sunny spells and showers. Most of the showers will be in coastal counties and the north. Rather cold in the north.

Thursday is expected to be cold and there could be wintry showers in the east for a time. Nonetheless, most of the UK has a good deal of dry and bright weather. Later on it could turn wet in Northern Ireland.

Through the rest of the week changeable weather is expected. All regions can expect dry periods but there will be showers or longer spells of rain too. Temperatures fluctuate and at times it will be quite cold. Sleet or snow remains possible over high ground in the north.
