Fresher in the north

Cooler air pushes down into northern and central areas today, but in the south it will feel very warm in sunny spells. The weekend is looking fine across most of the UK and temperatures rise again. On Sunday 29C (84F) could be reached in the south.

Friday starts with patchy rain in north western England and northern Wales. Through the day it edges southeastwards and fades away. Sunny spells develop to its north, but showers bubble up. To the south it remains dry with variable amounts of cloud.

Temperatures range from 16C (61F) in the far north west to 26C (78F) in East Anglia and the south eastern corner. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow light rain affects northern Scotland, but the rest of the UK will be dry and bright. Warm or very warm in most areas, although it stays cooler in the north west.

Very warm early on

During Sunday outbreaks of rain feed into northern and western Scotland. The rest of the UK has sunny periods and it becomes very warm or even hot. Temperatures could reach 29C (84F) locally in central and eastern England.  

Next week begins dry and hot in the south. Across northern and central regions showery spells of rain push southeastwards and it turns cooler.

Through the following days there is uncertainty about the forecast details. The general picture is for southern counties to have the driest and warmest conditions. In the north it will be more changeable and cooler.
