Thursday starts with rain in much of the north and east of the UK, but it is mostly dry in northern Scotland. In northern England and southern Scotland there are outbreaks of sleet and snow in places, especially over the hills. They continue for much of the day and give disruptive accumulations in places as they edge northwards. Across Northern Ireland, Wales and the southern half of England it turns drier and a few bright spells are possible. Through the afternoon further spells of rain push into the south west.
Temperatures temperatures range from 0C (32F) in parts of the north east to 11C (52F) in the south west.
Tonight outbreaks of rain clear eastwards in southern and central Britain. In the north it stays wet and there will be further snow in Scotland and parts of northern England. Cold in the north, mild and windy in the south.

Tomorrow the area of wet weather in the north becomes more fragmented and it steadily clears away southeastwards. Cloud amounts vary with the brightest skies in the northern half of Scotland. Cold in the north but still mild in the south.
Saturday may bring outbreaks of rain to southern and central counties. There is a chance of them turning to sleet or snow on their northern edge. They probably clear southwards by the early afternoon to leave a cold and mostly dry day in all areas.
Sunday starts with a widespread frost. Much of the UK probably remains cold and dry but there will be wintry showers in the northeast. There is also the likelihood of outbreaks of rain in south western England and Wales which could be preceded by sleet or snow.
