The snowfalls of December 1967

There was a spell of northerly winds across the UK from the 6th to the 10th of December 1967. This brought some heavy snowfalls to parts thanks to two polar lows that developed in the flow. Snow fell across many western areas with as much as 43cm over parts of northern Wales and up to 23cm across the West Midlands. There were some heavy snowfalls along the south coast thanks to the comparatively warm waters of the Channel providing vigorous instability.
