The best of the sunshine will be in the south and east with a lot of cloud in other regions. Across the north west patchy rain becomes more widespread.

Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in the south east to 11C (52F) in the north. See the rain radar for the latest view.

More unsettled outlook

The quiet weather continues on Thursday in much of country. There will be cloud and drizzle but also brighter intervals. Across Scotland winds strengthen and more persistent outbreaks of rain spread into the west.

Through Friday and the weekend high pressure declines. That leads to more mixed weather returning as Atlantic disturbances pushes southwards. All regions can expect some rain. In the north it may turn colder and there is an increasing risk of snow over higher ground.
