During Thursday outbreaks of rain spread across northern and western areas. By the evening they probably reach central regions, but much of southern and eastern England should remain dry. It will be windy but mild. The wet weather pushes southeastwards overnight and through Friday. Colder conditions follow and in Scotland showers turn wintry.
Through the weekend high pressure builds in from the west. Saturday will be quite cold with frost early and late. On Sunday outbreaks of rain and milder air begin to return from the northwest.
Next week high pressure is expected to remain centred to the south of the UK. Southern counties should have a lot of dry and quite mild weather. In the north there is a greater risk of rain.
