Unsettled weather continues

Cooler conditions return on Wednesday. Northern regions have a mix of sunny spells and wintry showers. In southern and central areas more persistent outbreaks of rain push eastwards. It remains blustery.

Thursday probably starts dry but yet more wet and windy weather spreads eastwards across much of the country. Showery conditions follow from the west and over the Scottish hills sleet or snow is likely.

The rest of next week is looking unsettled. All regions have rain and strong winds and in the north it could still be cold enough for snow on some days, especially over high ground.
