Heavy outbreaks of rain in the east

Wet weather affects the east today and it brings the risk of flooding in places. The unsettled theme continues during the next few days with further wet periods in all regions. It will also be windy at times. Later in the week there is a chance of it turning warmer in the south....READ IN FULL

Sunday is off to a very wet start in northern and eastern Britain. Elsewhere it is drier. Through the day the rain becomes increasingly confined to eastern England. Further heavy bursts are expected and they could lead to flooding in places. It will be windy. 

Temperatures range from 11C (52F) in the north to 16C (61F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight it turns drier in the east. Later in the night another batch of wet and windy weather pushes across Northern Ireland and into western Britain.

UK winter 2019/20 Update 2 [NEW]


Tomorrow outbreaks of rain steadily spread eastwards across all areas. East Anglia and the south eastern corner could remain dry until the early evening. Showery conditions return to Scotland and Northern Ireland. It will be windy with gales possible in the north and west.

Unsettled outlook

Tuesday and Wednesday bring a mix of sunshine and showers to all regions. The showers are likely to be heavy and prolonged in the north and west. Generally windy and cool. 

The unsettled theme continues for the rest of the week. Some drier spells are expected, particularly in the south. However, all regions have further rain. Temperatures stay close to the seasonal average in the north. Later on there may there may be more focus on drier and warmer conditions in the south as high pressure begins to have more influence.
