Best in the south this weekend

Fine weather

The south has a lot of dry, sunny and warm weather this weekend. In central and northern areas it will be more mixed. Next week high pressure keeps it mostly settled. Some cool nights are likely but the days remain quite warm. Towards the end of the week it turns more changeable in the north west....READ IN FULL

Saturday starts wet in much of northern and western Scotland. Elsewhere it is dry and chilly. The rest of the day will be fine in southern and central regions. The north has cloudier and windier conditions with gales in the north west. Outbreaks of rain become more widespread in Scotland and they could edge into Northern Ireland at times.

Tonight intermittent spells of rain push southwards into northern England and Wales. To the north and south of them it will be mainly dry with variable amounts of cloud.

Tomorrow will be dry and sunny in the south. Central areas remain cloudier with the risk of rain. The north has sunny spells and scattered showers. Temperatures in the south reach 25C (77F) but in the north it will be a lot cooler. Outbreaks of rain become more persistent and widespread across central regions during the evening and overnight.

High pressure in charge

Patchy spells of rain affect southern and central Britain for much of Monday. Elsewhere there will be a good deal of dry weather but in the far north outbreaks of rain return. It won't be as warm as recently in the south.

Tuesday looks fine in southern and central regions. There will be more cloud in the north and outbreaks of rain push into northern Scotland. 

During the rest of the week high pressure keeps things mainly dry and settled in much of the country. Days stay pleasantly warm but some chilly nights are probable. Later on the chance of it turning more unsettled in the north west increases.
