July has been a varied month. Despite bringing the UK's hottest day on record there have been cooler and unsettled spells of weather too. The Central England Temperature (CET) is about 1.9C above the average so it has been warm overall. The next few days look mixed with showers mainly in the north and east. Wednesday starts wet in some central and northern areas. There are still isolated showers in the south too but most of them have moved away overnight. Through the day heavy showers continue in the north and east. At times they could be thundery and lead to localised flooding. Southern England, Wales and Northern Ireland have a drier day with sunny spells. It will be quite blustery in the southern half of the UK.

Tomorrow showers return in northern and eastern Britain but sunny spells develop too. Elsewhere it remains mainly dry and bright. Temperatures will be higher than today's and in the south it feels warm.

Friday brings a good deal of dry weather and it warms up. A few heavy showers are likely in northern and eastern counties.
The weather this weekend is expected to be changeable. Eastern counties probably have a fine Saturday and in the south east it is will be warm. Across the north and west showers become widespread and heavy. The showery conditions continue on Sunday but the south east could be stay dry and warm.
Next week is currently looking quite unsettled with the likelihood of wet weather in all regions. Drier and brighter periods are likely too and temperatures probably remain close to the seasonal average overall.
