Warm spell but Easter details uncertain

[Updated 07:10 15/04/2019]

Fair weather

Rain in the far west slowly pushes eastwards today and tomorrow. By Wednesday it becomes mainly dry and temperatures rise. The second half of the week is looking mainly fine and the warmest day of the year so far is probable. Easter Sunday could see rain in the north and there is a risk of it pushing southeastwards on Easter Monday....READ IN FULL

Monday is off to a dry and chilly start in much of the UK but there are outbreaks of rain in south western England and parts of Northern Ireland. Through the rest of the day wet weather continues in those areas and it may extend into western Wales too. Elsewhere it will be dry with variable amounts of cloud and sunny spells.

Temperatures range from 9C (48F) in the north east and wet areas to 15C (59F) in sunnier parts of England. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Warm as Easter approaches

By Wednesday there could still be some showery rain around but it becomes mostly dry. In sunny spells it will feel warm.

During Thursday, Good Friday and Saturday a lot of fine weather is expected. Temperatures continue rising and Saturday could be the warmest day of the year so far with 24C (75F) not out of the question.

Easter Sunday is looking fine in the southern half of the UK, however in the north there is a risk of it turning cooler and wetter. Forecast confidence for Easter Monday is low and some computer models suggest the risk of showers or longer spells of rain pushing southwards.

In the longer term changeable and cooler weather is expected to become established.
