GFS forecast chart 1

GFS, pressure and precipitation, 15:00 GMT Thu 27th December

On Friday outbreaks of rain push into western Scotland and north western England. Through the day they move eastwards across Scotland but become increasingly patchy. The rest of the country has mostly cloudy and quite mild weather.

Settled into the New Year

High pressure remains centred close to the south of the UK in the run-up to the New Year. That means the southern half of the country has a good deal of dry weather but in the north there is a greater risk of rain. After a mild start temperatures probably dip back down towards the seasonal average.
