Fairly unsettled weather continues during the coming days with all regions having further wet and windy periods. It will often be quite mild, particularly in the south. There is still just about time for things to change, but a White Christmas is looking unlikely in most of the country....READ IN FULL
Monday starts mainly dry and in places there has been a touch of frost. This morning there will be sunny spells but cloud begins to build in the west and during the afternoon it spills eastwards. In the west patchy outbreaks of rain develop and winds strengthen.
After a chilly start temperatures recover this afternoon and range from 5C (41F) in the north to 12C (54F) in the south west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight heavier outbreaks of rain push across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. They are accompanied by strong winds and in exposed coastal locations severe gales are possible. Central and eastern counties remain dry.

Tomorrow the band of wet and windy weather pushes eastwards across all regions, although it may not reach the south eastern corner until late in the day. Gales are expected in the north and west. Drier conditions feed back into the west through the evening and winds ease. All regions have quite a mild day.

The unsettled theme continues through the rest of the week so all areas can expect further showers or longer spells of rain. At times it becomes very windy. In the south temperatures fluctuate between average and above average, but in the north colder incursions could lead to sleet or snow over high ground.
