Tuesday starts dry in much of the UK but to the south east of London there are downpours. Through the day the risk of thundery spells of rain spreads westwards across southern counties, but most of them remain to the south of London. Central and northern regions have a dry day with sunny spells, although it is likely to be cloudier in the north east.
Temperatures range from 17C (63F) in overcast areas to 25C (77F) in the sun. See the rain radar for the latest view.
ICON, forecast rainfall, 16:00 BST Tue 29th May
Tonight thundery rain slowly pushes northwards and by the morning it is expected to be affecting an area stretching from East Anglia to Cornwall. To the north it remains dry.
Tomorrow cloudier conditions and showery rain move northwards. Sunny periods continue in the north west and there could also be some warm sunshine in the south.
During Thursday and Friday the UK remains under a warm and humid air mass. That brings the likelihood of further thunderstorms but also warm sunny spells. Temperatures will be very dependent on cloud cover, but where it breaks for long enough daytime values could reach 26C (78F). A similar pattern continues through the weekend but the risk of rain may reduce.
