Friday starts fine and chilly across central and eastern regions but western areas are cloudier. Through the day wet and windy weather pushes across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. In exposed parts of the north west gales are likely. Central and eastern England stay dry but cloud amounts increase later.
Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the wet areas to 18C (64F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.
HIRLAM, forecast precipitation, 16:00 BST Fri 11th May
Tonight the rain spreads eastwards but in the south it will be patchy. By the end of the night drier conditions should have returned to most areas but it could still be damp in the east.
Tomorrow showers are likely in the south west and in the south east more persistent outbreaks of rain could develop. The northern half of the UK also has scattered showers but for many it should be a dry and bright day. In wet areas temperatures again disappoint for mid May.
GFS, forecast rain, 16:00 BST Sat 12th May
The changeable regime continues on Sunday. There should be a reasonable amount of sunshine early on but heavy showers break out in all regions in the afternoon.
Monday brings further showers to the south but in the north it should be and bright. It is expected to be warmer than in recent days.
On Tuesday a weak ridge of high pressure probably keeps things drier and warmer in the south. In the north wet and windy weather returns from the west.
The rest of the week remains changeable, however high pressure centred to the west or southwest of the UK should influence the weather at times. That bring a chance of drier and brighter periods, especially to the west of the UK.
