Magnolia with rain drops

After last week's mini heatwave a  westerly flow will bring much more typical spring weather in the coming days. By the weekend it could be very unsettled as an area of low pressure deepens close to the south of the UK.

Monday begins with showers in Northern Ireland and northern Britain but elsewhere it is fine. The rest of the day remains  dry and bright in much of southern and eastern England. In Northern Ireland more persistent outbreaks of rain develop this morning and thorough the afternoon they move into much of Scotland, north western England and northern Wales.

Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in the far north west to 18C (64F) in south east and East Anglia. See the rain radar for the latest view.

ICON forecast chart

DWS ICON 00z, forecast precipitation, 16:00 BST Mon 23rd April

Tonight showery conditions return to the north. After a dry start in southern and central counties wet weather pushes in from the west.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain continue in southern and central Britain but there could be some brighter and warmer spells the east. The north has a mix of sunshine and showers

Poor weekend outlook

During the middle of the week changeable weather continues. All regions have heavy showers or more longer spells of rain, but drier and brighter interludes too.

The weekend is looking unsettled. Forecast details are uncertain but an area of low pressure may deepen across the southern half of the country. That brings the prospect of rain and cool conditions to much of the UK and it could become quite windy too.

The GFS chart below for next Saturday shows low pressure bringing rain to much of the UK.
