Wednesday begins murky and mild across the south but the north is colder. Through the rest of the day the southern half of the UK has a good deal of cloud and some drizzly rain. Brighter spells develop in the north this morning but during the afternoon cloud builds and outbreaks of rain push into western Scotland.

Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in Scotland to a mild 15C (57F) in the south. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.

GFS 06z Maximum temperature forecast for 15:00GMT, Wednesday 15th November 2017

Tonight wet weather spreads southeastwards across Northern Ireland and much of Scotland. Elsewhere it stays overcast and damp.

Tomorrow the band of rain in the north west steadily pushes southeastwards and fragments. That is followed by colder and clearer conditions from the northwest.  It will be windy in the north.

Friday should be bright and quite cold in much of the country. In the far north of the UK showery rain, sleet and snow is likely.

A mixed weekend is in prospect. Wintry showers are expected in the north on Saturday and during the second half of the day outbreaks of rain could push into the west. Elsewhere it remains dry and bright. Forecast confidence for Sunday is very low but there is a likelihood of wet weather spreading eastwards.
