The week ahead will bring mixed weather but the Atlantic remains in quite a subdued state for the time of year. Apart from Thursday and Friday it is expected to be quite chilly.
Monday begins with a widespread frost and in many southern locations it is the first time the temperature has dipped below 0C (32F) this autumn. Coincidentally that was also the case on November 6th last year. Northern Ireland and western Scotland are milder due to cloud cover and patchy outbreaks of rain. Through the day cloud gradually builds from the west but central and eastern England continue to have sunny spells. In the west some light outbreaks of rain are likely and in the north west they become heavier and more persistent.
Temperatures range from 6C (42F) in the north to 12C (54F) in the south west. See the rainfall radar for the latest view.
Tonight wet weather pushes into eastern Scotland and western parts of England and Wales. Drier conditions follow into Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Central and eastern England stay dry.
Tomorrow the rain moves southeastwards and reaches the London area by mid-afternoon. In the north and west it turns brighter and showery.
On Wednesday outbreaks of rain affect the northern half of the UK but they become increasingly patchy. The south remains mostly dry.
The second half of the week brings more changeable weather. It is likely to turn colder again by the weekend with nighttime frosts becoming widespread.
