Brian Gaze: Early morning mist in the Bulbourne Valley Near to Berkhamsted

Most of the UK will be dry today with warm spells of sunshine. The exception is the far northwest where outbreaks of rain push in from the Atlantic. High pressure remains dominant through the coming days, leading to a continuation of the settled period. Temperatures will climb and by the weekend values could reach the mid-20s Celsius. (If you would like to browse the website without adverts and contribute to its ongoing development, explore the payment options, see below)

Tonight it remains wet in northern and western Scotland. Other areas have dry conditions and it will stay quite warm.

Tomorrow it's a very similar picture. The risk of rain persists in northern and western Scotland. Elsewhere, it will be dry with sunny periods. Temperatures are likely to be a couple of degrees higher than today's.

All eyes on the weekend

Isolated showers may bubble up on Friday, but most places enjoy another dry day with sunny periods. It could be the warmest day of the year so far with temperatures peaking in the mid 20Cs.

The fine spell continues on Saturday, with just a few showers in northern Britain. Temperatures once more peak in the low to mid 20Cs.

By Sunday pressure will be starting to fall, leading to an increasing chance of showers, particularly in the south and west. Despite that, there should still be spells of warm sunshine.
