Select the computer model you want to view charts from, by default the latest GFS run is displayed when you open the page.
With the GFS you can set the step interval to be 3, 6, 9, 12, 24 or 48 hours and user the - and + buttons, or use the hours ahead panel to go directly to the chart you want to view.
With the GEFS, ECM, Fax and WW3 you can select the hour as required.
The GFS, GEFS, ECM and WW3 options give you a range of different charts to view.
The Global Forecast System (GFS) is one of the best medium range weather forecasting
models currently available and updates every 6 hours, going out to 16 days ahead.
The European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts runs the ECM model which widely considered the best currently
available. It updates every 12 hours wth data up to 10 days ahead available here.
The Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS) updates every 6 hours and is based on
the GFS forecasting model. The GEFS comprises of 20 runs, each initiated with slightly
different starting conditions to account for uncertainty.
The Wave Watch 3 (WW3) model updates every 6 hours and provides wave forecast information
for up to 180 hours ahead, stepped at 3 hour intervals.
The Fax charts are produced by the UK Met Office and have human input rather than
being generated automatically by a computer model.
