An area of rain moves southwards across the northern half of the UK. Southern counties remain dry and temperatures will be a little higher than recently. Tomorrow brings more showers but the weekend is expected to be dry in much of the UK. Thursday starts wet in much of northern and western Scotland. Elsewhere it is dry and there has been a widespread ground frost.
Through the day, outbreaks of rain push southwards across the northern half of the UK, and by the late afternoon they will be reaching central areas. Some heavy bursts of rain are likely. Brighter and showery conditions follow into Scotland. Southern counties remain dry.

Tonight the area of rain pushes into the south but it becomes increasingly showery. Central and northern regions have scattered showers and clear spells.
Tomorrow morning heavy showers are possible in central and eastern England. There could be showers in other areas too, but through the course of the day they become more scattered and sunny periods develop more widely.
Saturday is likely to be dry and bright in much of the UK. The exception is northern and western Scotland where patchy outbreaks of rain are likely to be pushing eastwards.
Sunday is forecast to be dry in much of the UK. However, there is a risk of patchy rain in northern England and Wales. A lot of cloud is likely in the south, with the brightest conditions in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Forecast details for Monday are uncertain. In Scotland and Northern Ireland light outbreaks of rain are possible. England and Wales may be brighter, but there is a risk of showers.
