There will be light rain in places today but it won't amount to much. Through the coming days high pressure builds back across the UK to bring more dry weather. Nights remain cold and there is an ongoing risk of frost, but during the days it often feels warm in the sun.

Tuesday begins with outbreaks of rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere it is dry and not as cold as recent mornings. Through the day the rain pushes southeastwards across the northern half of the UK. It becomes increasingly patchy and clearer conditions follow it in Scotland. In southern and central regions scattered showers develop, but there will be some bright spells.

Maximum temperatures range from 8C (46F) in northern Scotland to 18C (64F) in eastern England. See the rain radar for the latest view.

High pressure dominates

Thursday and Friday are looking dry. The nights will be chilly with frost in places. Daytime temperatures won't be too far from the average and in sunny spells it feels warm.

Through the weekend high pressure stays in control of the weather. The risk of nighttime frost continues but in the days it should feel quite warm, although near to the east coast it could feel quite raw.
