A deepening area of low pressure and weather fronts associated with it will keep things very unsettled during the rest of the week. All parts of the UK have wet and windy periods with some large rainfall totals likely in places. It will often be quite chilly.

Wednesday starts wet and windy in much of the north and west. In central and eastern England it is dry. During the course of the day the rain spreads eastwards and there will be some heavy bursts mixed in. Brighter conditions follow into Northern Ireland, Wales and south western England. Windy generally.
Temperatures range from 8C (48F) in the north to 16C (61F) in the south east. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.
Tonight the persistent rain steadily clears eastwards. Showers follow into the north and west.

Tomorrow there is a risk of rain in the north east but other central and eastern parts of Britain should be mainly dry. In Wales, Northern Ireland and the south west of England showers develop. They become heavy and prolonged in the afternoon. It will be cool.
Friday is looking wet in much of England and Wales but brighter conditions may return to southern counties later on. Scotland and Northern Ireland remain drier. It is expected to be windy with gales possible in the south west and along the English Channel.
The unsettled spell continues this weekend. Saturday looks set to bring wet and windy conditions to much of the UK. It may stay drier in central and eastern England. Further showers or longer spells of rain are expected on Sunday.
Next week all regions continue to have showers or longer spells of rain as low pressure remains the dominant feature of the UK's weather.
