Meanwhile, the Met Office have issued a yellow warning for rain for Friday. That warning is due to come into effect just to the west of here, so I am currently outside that warning area here in Hawick.
However, that same weather warning goes on to split Edinburgh into two along a line which runs through the city centre.
This weather warning will only be in force to the west of that line but this means that when I return home to NW Edinburgh on Friday, I will be heading into that warning area and other parts of Edinburgh such as Wester Hailes and possibly where Jerry is next to Blackford Hill are also in that warning area.
Yet parts of Edinburgh to the east of that line such as Newhaven, Leith, Portobello, Niddrie and Craigmillar are all just outside that warning area.
As we all know, weather warnings are not exactly uncommon but this is probably only the first time that I can remember a weather warning splitting a small city like Edinburgh in that fashion.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
