Weather forecast discussion

Thursday starts with thundery downpours in southern England and Wales. In other areas it is mostly dry.

This morning the rain in the south steadily eases. However, this afternoon there will be a scattering of heavy and thundery showers. They could reach as far north as the Midlands and northern Wales. The rest of the UK will be dry and bright.

Temperatures range from 12°C in the wet areas to 21°C where sunny spells develop. Check the weather radar for the most up to date view.

Tonight further heavy outbreaks of rain are likely in southern Britain. Central and northern regions remain dry and mild.

Tomorrow sees showers and longer spells of rain slowly spreading northwards, with drier conditions returning to the south. By the late afternoon outbreaks of rain are possible in northern Wales, as well as central and northern England. Scotland and Northern Ireland should be mostly dry.

Mixed bank holiday weekend

During Saturday there is a risk of patchy outbreaks of rain in the south. Southern and central regions may be dry initially but heavy and thundery downpours could develop later.

The greatest risk of rain on Sunday appears to be in central and eastern England. Elsewhere, there could be scattered showers but also a reasonable amount of sunshine. That said, the details are still uncertain.

Bank Holiday Monday probably brings mixed conditions. There should be some bright spells but also heavy showers.
