Met office update

UK Outlook for Monday 27 Feb 2017 to Wednesday 8 Mar 2017:

A fairly unsettled picture is likely at first, as further weather systems affect the UK from the Atlantic. Showery spells could affect many areas, particularly in the north-west where these may be thundery at times and could bring snow to higher ground, and even lower levels further north. Milder, cloudier weather is likely to be more prevalent further south and east at first, but all areas are likely to turn colder by the mid-week with an increasing risk of overnight frost. The changeable Atlantic influence is likely to remain in place as we go into March, with cloudy spells accompanied by rain and strong winds at times, falling as snow further north. There is a smaller likelihood of more settled conditions with overnight fog and frost by early March.

UK Outlook for Thursday 9 Mar 2017 to Thursday 23 Mar 2017:

For March there is a fair amount of uncertainty, but the weather is most likely to be unsettled at first. There will be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions with some snow possible across the north of the UK. There will, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, particularly in the south and east where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be around average for the time of year but there remains a small chance of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, if settled conditions were to develop more widely. This is more likely later in the period.

Met office update

UK Outlook for Tuesday 28 Feb 2017 to Thursday 9 Mar 2017:

A fairly unsettled picture is likely at first, as further weather systems affect the UK from the Atlantic. Sunshine and showers are likely for many areas at first. Further frontal zones then bringing cloudier, wetter weather, particularly in the north west; with some snow over northern hills. Feeling colder than of late, especially further north, with temperatures closer to average in the south. The changeable Atlantic influence could remain in place through early March, with stronger winds and rain more likely in north and western areas; drier and brighter further south and east, but temperatures returning to around normal. There is a smaller probability of more settled conditions developing on the continent, which could bring a greater risk of overnight fog and frost particularly for eastern UK.

UK Outlook for Friday 10 Mar 2017 to Friday 24 Mar 2017:

For the rest of March signals are weak and confidence is low. There could be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions with some snow possible across the north of the UK. There could, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, particularly in the south and east where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be around average for the time of year but there remains a small chance of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, if settled conditions were to develop more widely. This is more likely later in the period.

The 21:17 BBC forecast this evening for the week ahead has a 'can you spot the error?' moment- can you spot it? Fab. TS coolly glosses past it- perhaps he hasn't noticed. Maybe they'll have erased it in a clever IT way by the time you get to see it so don't delay. (Also these vids get lost after they're updated).

It should have been noticed really.

Met office update

UK Outlook for Thursday 2 Mar 2017 to Saturday 11 Mar 2017:

An unsettled picture is likely as frontal systems move into the UK from the west or southwest, bringing wet and windy weather at times with gales in places. Snow is likely over northern hills, with a low risk of some snow more widely at times across the north. Between frontal systems, there should be some spells of brighter weather with showers which may be wintry at times in the north. Nevertheless, some brief quieter, drier spells are also likely. Temperatures will generally vary around normal for the time of year, often slightly above average in the south but rather cold at times in the north, with night frosts. There remains the possibility of a more widely settled but colder period, perhaps giving wintry showers in the east and north.

UK Outlook for Sunday 12 Mar 2017 to Sunday 26 Mar 2017:

For the rest of March signals are weak and confidence is low. It will probably be rather unsettled with spells of wet and windy weather at first, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions. Some snow is also possible across the north of the UK. There should, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal for the time of year. However, there remains the possibility of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, with an increased chance of snow in places.
