We're on standby from tonight, to assist with expected flood victims in Canterbury next.

Thanks young yellow digits , but tbh, it's actually a real pleasure helping people - more so than I realised it would be, when I started this lark. I now get a real buzz out if knowing I've made a difference to someone else's day. The sad times, are when we give help to those that have lost everything. I've had 2 such cases inthe last 7 days alone (house fires). Tomorrow looks like we could be seeing more losing their possessions through flooding (assuming we have no fire calls first!)

Indeed. Wind has increased suddenly and markedly here in the last few minutes and the rain is now pretty heavy.  We are only in a rain warning areas here, but that is bad enough !

Really? The wind might be a problem but looking at the radar there is barely any rain at least down here. I was expecting a very wet night and then a wet day for my folks to drive back to Devon. Looks totally dry after about 6am for their whole journey in fact!

Expect the yellow warnings for rain to be removed for the south imminently, as soon as they notice the radar...

Latest NAE shows a whopping 7mm here and even that may be an overestimate.

A very narrow band of rain though. My phone is telling me 100% chance of rain right through till 9am but it actually looks like I'll get an hour or two at most. The main band has gone across the channel to France.

It had been forecast to bottom at 942 on the GFS - it is already at that figure instead of the 950 forecast for 22.00 hours. Has it reached peak early or still to deepen further, we'll soon see.

It's the warm front going through at the moment. As you say, thinking is that the cold front will organise into a potent band overnight as it comes through

Pressure dropping like a stone here, wind getting up, looks damp outside but nothing showing on the rain gauge yet.
