We'll widen this thread out to include Friday/Saturday's storm too.

Please continue to discuss the breeze and drizzle in here...

Dougie's post in the old thread...

Watching all this fun (to us anyway) has covered up the fact that the wind is still picking up, and is worse now than at any time.

Peak gust of 62mph so far, which is the strongest since '87 that I have recorded

That's not very strong for 26 years. Where is dougie located?
Somewhere inland I'm guessing.

In 26 years you've seriously only recorded 62mph? Wow... Are you relatively sheltered?

Things pepped up a bit here too in the last 1/2 hour. Sustained is closer to 50mph now.

Yes, very sheltered for winds from the South or West.

Nobody lives inside it thankfully! I think it's used as an office. I don't think there's much damage from what I can see. Although the tree is very tall it also looks quite light for its size.

The noise in the last 10 mins or so is astonishing! Reminds me so much of 'that' night back in '87. The constant roar of the sustained speed is so loud that you can no longer hear the gusts!

It mean more sunlight coming to your garden if that tree shaded it a lot.  I am hoping for some nasty fast growing leylandi trees to be knock down here to let the sunlight in our western side of our flat which our bedroom always dim to dark,  we lose the sun around 3pm as it used to last to 4pm when the trees was shorter.  Only 1 leylandi tree was cut in half duing the powerful storm we had few weeks back which it nice to see some bit of western skies appearing.  I thought the law had enforced to keep those trees up to 6ft max height if next to the property.

60 mph gust just recorded here in the village, so must be 70+ at Manton now. This means it's now worse than St Jude's in this neck of the falling woods.

It looks like its taken down some of our fence with it. Luckily the Vantage Vue is ok.

We've had discussions with them about removing it for years. It really is far too large for a suburban garden. I just hope the damage to their property is minimal.
