My daughter's team (carers) have had their work cut out this morning in the High Peak. Quite a bit of snow on the roads

We can use the radar to estimate where the downstream effects of evap is going to be most effective. I've used the rainfall tendency as a proxy for wind direction in the boundary layer; this is better than surface wind since its more up to date and takes height into account. Anyway you can see that the winds are perpendiculat to the front for most of England so evap cooling is ineficient. BUT the showers in the south west cover large parts of England in cold air downstream. I've highlighted in blue where the greatest potential is.

I hope this equally applies to Swansea! We have had a couple of heavy hail showers, but no snow - yet!

We had some wet flakes in the heavier bursts but far off settling snow with the temp above 2.5c at all times.  7mm rain so that would have been a good fall had it been a couple of degrees colder.
Moors look white above 350m to the SW.

Have to get very lucky from an intense shower to get anything out of this weekend.

Oh what a surprise, for the dogs anyway, woke up to around two and a half inches this morning, no longer snowing and thawing already underway so won't be around long.

I thought I'd edit this and add how I felt when I saw the snow, I didn't feel anything, for the first time in my life I didn't get at all excited, must be either getting too old or just fed up with seeing a little bit of slushy rubbish and nothing more.

Saw doctormog posted in here.

This could really deliver for you if you like snow! Not much interest outside of NE scotland though!

Not here I doubt but a bit inland with elevation. I suspect there will probably just be flooding in low lying areas of NE Scotland.

WRF is showing that the airmass coming off the sea is genuinely
cold. On the immediate coast, rain yes, but even a bit inland will be enough I reckon particularly if the precip occurs at night.

Really envy those that live in NE scotland. This could be quite something. This is the snow only up to midnight Tuesday, when the Met warning only starts to become valid.

Rain changed over to snow surprisingly early today - around 4pm - and it has snowed steadily since then leaving 1-2cm on grass and cars but little or no accumulation on roads or pavements.
