Summer forecast issued

[Updated 19:30 31/05/2017]

Fair weather

The medium term outlook is changeable. All regions have wet weather at times as we head into the European Monsoon season.

Wednesday starts dry across the UK and through the course of the day sunny spells develop widely. Most places have a dry day, but in the south and west scattered showers are possible.

Maximum temperatures range from 12C (54F) in western Scotland to a warm 24C (74F) in the south east and East Anglia. See the rainfall radar and UK weather report map for the latest.

Tonight it stays dry in most of the UK but late on outbreaks of rain push into Northern Ireland.

Fine and warm weather continues in the south and east tomorrow. In Northern Ireland and Scotland outbreaks of rain develop and very slowly edge southeastwards.

During Friday the band of rain affects south western England, Wales and northern England. In the south east it will be warm and thunderstorms could break out. In the north west cooler and showery conditions return.

The weekend looks mixed. Rain clears from the south east on Saturday to leave cooler and showery conditions in all regions. Beefy showers are expected on Sunday but there will be drier spells too.

The TWO summer forecast is now online. Buzz takes a look at the first half of June.
