[Updated 08:50 14/05/2017]

Puddle

Sunday begins wet in the east. Elsewhere it's mostly dry.

This morning the rain quickly clears away from the east. Sunny spells develop but showers bubble up, and this afternoon some of them become heavy and thundery. There should also be quite a lot of dry and bright weather.

Temperatures range from about 13C (55F) in the north west to 18C (64F) in the south east. See the rain and lightning strikes radar for the latest view.

Tonight wet and windy weather spreads across western and central parts of the UK. The east remains dry.

Tomorrow the rain continues pushing eastwards. Heavy outbreaks are expected in  central and northern areas, but in the south eastern corner they are likely to be patchier. It will be windy.

During Tuesday wet weather affects parts of northern England and Wales. Ahead of this in the south east it becomes very warm and humid. The north west has cooler and brighter conditions.

By Wednesday there is some forecast uncertainty. The south and south east could have heavy outbreaks of rain. Northern and western regions may remain dry and bright.

The second half of the week will be changeable and there is the potential for cool and wet spells. Buzz looks at whether the drought is ending.
