Likely to be some heavy, thundery showers breaking out more widely as the day goes on.

S**t the bed. It's just started spitting with rain at this end. Finally, as I was just starting to forget what the stuff look and feel like.

EDIT: Well, that was epic . . . all five droplets of it.

Your're probably sleeping through it lol! Your lawn should've had a reasonable drink by now and a couple of (distant?) rumbles thrown in! Bog standard showery rain at this end - could this July be the first one I've ever known to be thunderless? Gonna be a close call - today was ..

Edit: Umm, just found my old records and it seems the cider has eroded my memory! Not including this year I've kept records for some years between 1975 and 2016  .. 26 in total - they were 1975 to 1978 inclusive, 1981 to 1997 inclusive and 2012 to 2016. In those periods I did record July 1977, 1987 and 1997 as thunderless. So, it wouldn't surprise me if July 2017 was  Quite likely just a statistical quirk! Pity I don't have records for 2007

Some bright echoes over parts of West Midlands to NE of Bristol. I think there's thunder too.

That's one hell of squall line over Lancashire and Cumbria! Reports of torrential rain, thunder, lightning and over 50mph gusts under that!

Lashing it down now, but as usual, the lightning and thunder seems to have subsided.

Massive squall here with torrential rain but no thunder.
By the sound of aircraft noise outside my house and a quick look on flight radar i think it caused a plane to abort a landing and pull back up.

Thunder and lightning here again this evening - not as good as yesterday evening - but quite unusual 2 days in a row!

Anyone remember these days? The best resource was hourly radar from the MetO site (updated about 15 minutes after the hour):

In terms of lightning detection, forget it. The blitzortung websites relied on dodgy triangulation data (the IOW Lightning site was trumpeted by many, but it was hopeless). You kids these days, you don't know you're born... etc. etc.

EDIT: in fact for strikes, the only reliable source was meteocentre.com ... none on this grab, but the "irons" are there:

I remember them - the 'irons' were 'telephones' in my case lol! Prior to those days all I had was the AM radio - great for picking up any activity. The AM radio has come in handy this afternoon - heard a couple of close crackles and went out to listen and heard the deep distant booms from 12 miles away - so I'll have to record today as a thunder day! We have open countryside to the south here and so thunder can be heard at quite a distance.

Quite a few showers going up around here. The BBC seem to be very adamant on giving the Manchester area thunderstorms galore this evening, but given their pathetic record so far this summer, I'm going to dismiss it as bullsh't this time around.

Just had a decent thundery shower here, numerous rumbles/crashes of thunder but curiously didn't see any lightning.  3.5mm of rain in about 8 mins or so.
