Edit: Another weak front, another 0.3mm! Total now at 15.2mm - The slugs 'n' snails will appreciate the damp surface conditions atm.

The dribs and drabs continue: 0.2mm to add from the 15th. Total now at 15.4mm. Wednesday could prove interesting for many - from a convective precip. point of view ..

After this evening's storm, July is now the wettest month of 2017 here, beating the previous wettest month - a tie between January and July, both on 68.4mm.

So this month so far has had:

01/07 0.3mm
02/07 0.9mm
11/07 23.1mm
12/07 8.7mm
15/07 0.6mm
18/07 37.8mm

TOTAL 71.4mm

The totals on 11th and 12th actually all happened within 24 hours (my totals are midnight-midnight). So it's interesting that all but 1.8mm of this month's rain has come in two very wet (30mm+) 24 hour periods! Very tropical.

the latter with lots of blog reports. Haven't found a rainfall total yet, but one report says that  mile or so away it wasn't raining - so a total will presumabaly depend on a local enthusiast.

Meanwhile, back in the SE, Reading had the highest official total yeaterday at 42 mm

I recorded 37.8mm before midnight and another 3.3mm in the storm between 2.00am-3.30am, so a total of 41.1mm for me.

Other WUnderground sites recorded more than the official reading. Maiden Erlegh School in Earley (SE Reading) recorded 54.6mm in total. Another station i saw up in Marlow Bottom recorded 60.6mm. That's a staggering amount of rain.

Just 3.7mm to add from the 16th. Total at just 19.1mm. It remains to be seen if we catch any convective weather here today - you'd think with the current warmth and humidity, winds in an easterly quarter, pressure low at 1002mb and falling, a cold front approaching from the west ... it would be a no brainer

The transition from the warm, humid continental flow to a much fresher Atlantic maritime flow, via a cold-frontal trough, produced just 3mm here  As I keep mentioning - the lawns are loving these occasional sprinkles! Now, surely Friday's system can finally produce a decent drink for the garden?

Total now at 22.1mm.
