9.8mm for May after today's horrific washout conditions which were as welcome and needed as having a healthy kidney removed without anaesthetic.

Now means that Saturday has been the wettest day of each month of this truly dire spring with 56% of the seasonal rainfall having occurred on this one day

Here's the breakdown of the spring rainfall by day. A sick joke.

Saturday: 63.0mm

Tuesday: 14.8mm

Friday: 12.0mm

Monday: 9.6mm

Wednesday/Sunday: 4.2mm

Thursday: 4.0mm

The unsettled spell ends here with just 0.8mm falling today - so just 0.8mm in the last 3 days! Not enough has fallen to deeply water the garden but the lawn isn't complaining! Looking like a mostly dry week coming up for this neck of the woods. Total now at 22.9mm which is 57% of the average at this stage of the month.

2.3mm overnight brings my total to 27.2mm. Continuing to get the dribs and drabs of rain that have characterised this month - the highest amount in any 24hr period (midnight to midnight) is just the 4.7mm that fell on the 17th.
