Any humidity / wind speed data to go with those temperature reports? Wondering how it stacks up against yesterday.
Isle-sur-la-Sorgue has a humidex of 49C currently. I think there were some 50C+ yesterday.
Edit: A couple of 50C humidex in Italy yesterday but 49C the max in France that I can see:

So Carprentras takes the record but it looks like we could go a bit further. Can we get to the 46C predicted by some of the high res models?
Don't know where the reporting station is. However the town is sometimes called French Venice.

Carpentras actually hit 44.3C about half an hour ago, so the national all time record has gone. I was down that way last summer and it was unbearable enough at 36C. 44.3C and humidity just doesn't bear thinking about.
Carpentras had a northerly wind and dropping humidity when the record was set. There are mountains to the north of Carpentras, seems like a Foehn wind may have given the station a helping hand?
And there it is, the all time recordhttps://twitter.com/gwoznica/status/1144577721592373249?s=21
I think we could have hit 40c in the London area if we'd had a consistent southerly this week the 850s are just staggering.
This is the Arome temp map for London, 3pm tomorrow:

For some reason I can't insert the picture, just the link. Anyway, it shows 35C across a large area, and a small max spot at 36C directly over Heathrow!
So all eyes on Heathrow tomorrow. No plane exhausts or tarmac runways factored into this model. Just LHR's very favourable, sheltered spot during Southerly flow. Highest temps are out West so I expect LHR top tomorrow, followed by Northolt.

June record up for grabs then 35.6c in 1976
From the chart looks like Watford may hit 35c as well tomorrow!

Porthmadog was at 28.4C at 1300
Mona 27.5C
Achnagart 27.4C
Kinlochewe 27.3C
The latest charts show that temperatures in France are now dropping slightly from their peak.
Looks like 45.1c in Villevieille dan's la Gard. New French record prob more to come yet.
Almost the warmest day of the year. Should get there in the next hour
Achnagart 28.7C
Chivenor 28.5C

45.1C now reported as the new provisional French record, at Villevieille.
Villevieille in Gard has hit 45.1C! Will anywhere get higher? 45.3C needed to leapfrog Bulgaria into 5th place in European national rankings.
