On the runway at Manchester Airport and it's snowing moderately.

Be glad when we're in the air

There's about an inch of snow at Manchester Airport so they've closed the runways for an hour and half to clear them.

🤬

Already sat on plane nearly an hour waiting for the de-icing truck, which made us miss the window before runway closure.

The Forth Streamer has exploded into life! Heavy snow! It's 0.5 C. Another 2cm on the old frozen snow. The yellow warning doesn't kick in until 1500

Another heavy burst of snow just then, with 50p sized flakes. Looks like a break coming soon, but the Met Office have snow symbols for the whole day here.

Light snow leaving a light covering on all surfaces, -0.3c

Bad luck Saint, hope it clears soon, I was quite sceptical about lowland snow in the NW but seems I was wrong.

Worst case situation here, temp of -1.4 and we’ve just had a heavy rain shower with hail. Overnight it got down to -3.4c frozen wet surfaces everywhere. Strange looking with the frosty white grass.

As I write, it is snowing here in the north of Edinburgh once again.

That snow is settling and there is more of it than it was with our first fall of snow a couple of days ago.

That wasn't even enough for any sort of snow depth to actually be registered at Edinburgh Gogarbank, but I have a feeling that it will be different story this time and the equivalent rainfall total from that should be higher as well (the first snowfall a couple of days ago resulted in just 0.4 mm of rain being recorded at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh once that melted, along with nothing at all at Edinburgh Gogarbank).

The only downside is that it had clouded over quite a while before it actually started snowing, and that resulted in the temperature jumping back up above freezing, thus very nearly scuppering yet another chance of us getting our coldest night of the winter so far.😡

However, the temperature at 8am this morning was around 0°C here in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Been there, done that!   On the afternoon of 1st March 2018 we were sat on a plane at Birmingham airport, bound for Goa. All northern airports were closing due to the beast from the East, so planes were diverted to Birmingham, where it wasn’t snowing. We missed our slot twice, it started snowing and we watched from the plane windows as the snow got heavier, the plane had to be defrosted, then we had to wait for the runway to be cleared. We finally took off but were one of the last planes to leave for a few hours.
