Indeed. Barely a thaw at all (if any) away from the biggest buildings/shops etc.

Epping Forest has remained at or below zero most if not all of the day from what I can ascertain.

about 10 cm in Hertford overnight, all still hanging on the trees with no thaw, very pictuesque and unusual. Local schools closed ... cant help thinking it should have been an amber warning but then maybe difficult one for Met... reading reports from this forum depth of snow seems to be very localised.

I think the time of year (approaching minimum solar input) plays a huge part.
I really want a mid December to mid January snow event. We tend to get them in Feb or March nowadays (if at all!) and it’s always a dispiriting feeling watching the rapid melt.

At Stansted nervously waiting for my flight to board. A small bit chaotic here with some flights still being cancelled at the last minute. I suppose another night in London wouldn't be the end of the world....

Indeed. Dr Johnson wrote “You find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London.

🤣 Well, in that case, I'm most certainly not tired of life.
Honestly, though, I suspect that Stansted right now is a bit like living in Russia. Loads of official announcements but you can't believe any of them. The 8.30 am flight to Derry is now boarding. Apparently....

Snow flurry at West Dean u=in the Downs N of Chichester mid-afternoon. Well, just about - you could count the individual flakes where they had settled on frozen ground. Hah!

Absolutely nothing around on the radar but it's snowing just to the west of Fareham, Hants.

Even though we had less than a cm of snow last night it is still there totally unthawed and crunchy on the ground apart from treated surfaces.

BTW some models did show a small area of snow heading northwest from the south coast this afternoon/evening. Looks like there is a bit there.

I got my snow fix today. Surprisingly I only had to travel 9 miles to find it !

7cm at Lyminge Forest just up the road.

A true winterwonderland.

The Folkestone 4c rainfest of yesterday is well behind me now.

I'm not far from Dorchester and you've made me open the door and look at a lamp-post but nothing to see. Yesterday it snowed here moderately with everything white but when I went to town it was just frost. Very local snowfall that extended to Corfe and we were on the western edge of it four miles east of Dorchester.

They live in a village called Stratton few miles west of Dorchester.  The recent shower gave a covering .

It sad that to find snow in the UK need to drive it when UK really supposed to be a cold country with snow in winter months.  I only experience getting snow fix is going to Troodos annually in Cyprus to see the snow and spent few hours each time depending on my dad's day off and usually once or twice every winter.   That time I always expect snow on your doorstep in the UK.

I know Stratton and come to think of it I think you mentioned your parents before... many years ago perhaps.
Anyway a dusting of powder when I woke up this morning from what would have passed over last night I guess.
Oh thank you Brian for adding the spellcheck. A welcome addition.

Snow not melted so far, still clinging on to the trees etc, made for a picturesque drive to daughter's school this morning as her bus was cancelled.

Quick pick from yesterday's walk/play. I was hoping the hill would have full snow cover as would have been good for sledging but only the sides had deep snow, middle was slush:-
