Heavy snow shower on again here.

Light snow and few flakes followed by very light snow and tiny flakes. Snowing for 2 hrs so far only leaving a trace on some surfaces here in Okehampton. The rainfall radar appears so have shown snow in Exeter earlier whilst I was there and it was bone dry in Exeter today. My guess is that it's evaporating and or fragmenting.

Just in from a Christmas concert, the end of which coincided perfectly with a period of heavy snow.

Very nice doc. Snow at this time of year has an almost magical look to it.

Richard should be very happy with this and low night temps? Really nice to see heavy snow again in this bone dry Midlands area.

Knowing Richard though, I wouldn't be surprised if there was still some aspect of that which he wasn't happy with.

That's Richard for you, after all.🤣
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Whilst it is bone dry here and definately a snow free zone, at least I can see snow now from my office window now the weather has cleared up .  The Moors are white between Bradford and Burnley, so the proper snow on Friday got a bit closer than I thought.

Probably about 5 inches of snow here.  School and nursery closed so plans thrown out the window!

3 days in and the 12cm of snow in my part of Crowborough still looks as fresh as the moment it fell. Everything is still festooned including the phone lines and the trees (usually the first to go), and with a very satisfying crunch underfoot. I'm not one for keeping written records but the memory bank will definitely store this as second best of all time (after 2010), if nothing else because of the zero melt, which usually occurs within hours of a fresh fall 99% of the time.

Looks like some decent snow showers about to hit Norfolk.

A surprising number of snow showers here today adding to the depth of the existing cover and recovering previously cleared surfaces.

I'm still slightly amazed by this cold spell, 3 days of lying snow, been a long time since I've seen that here.

If we're lucky we may get a few more days to enjoy it.

If i was being really picky my only gripe would be that it fell on a sunday night and i've had to work all week!

Our paltry 0.5cm of snow is still going strong on Day 3. Ground frozen solid and it feels even colder today. Just below zero but a northerly breeze making it feel bitter.

Yes and looks like some more substantial showers after dark here too.

Yes, I was going to shave 0.5 points of this spell because of that - but have decided against it because it’s lasted so long.

Lots of surfaces still have snow cover.

Very similar to Yateley here in SW Surrey. (I'd intended to quote Rob K's post but somehow that didn't happen.) We were on the extreme western edge of Sunday's fall, and I estimate we only had 0.25cm, but remarkably  it's still hanging on in shaded spots. There's been just enough brightness and even a little sunshine to remove the snow exposed to it. But even so there were two mornings (Monday, Tuesday) which would meet the official definition of "snow lying".

If the 12Z GFS operational run should prove to be roughly right, then this December might rank as inferior only to 2010 and 1981 and on a par with 2009 and 1996.

There is around 10cm of level snow depth (possibly a bit more) and it is currently snowing horizontally as the wind has picked up here.

There looks like being a few more showers coming through this evening too.
