Just noticed on the 31st January it reached 24 C at the Falkland Islands while Riyadh managed 18 C.
Like I said in an earlier post, I know they are at opposite ends of the globe each with their own particular climate type and season but it's something that interests me.

The 24 C in Falklands is quite unusual, a bit like Wick in Scotland reaching similar temperatures.
For Riyadh, 18 C is quite normal at this time of the year as they do have short winters, but it start to warm up appreciably now with max temperatures commonly in the low-mid 20's (I think the average max is 21 C in January.
I remember reading in The Times midday temperatures of 7 C in Riyadh on 1 day in late December 1987 after being mostly between 20-25 C for early half of the month, which really took me by surprise!
