Is this normal for this time of the year?

Very little to no blue skies between the clouds here in Sheffield today (8 Jun); just white skies and sun showing marked copperish tint. Is this due to the forest fires of the Americas?

Another unusual weather to report - thunder is still rumbling over a belt from western Libya to Mali and Niger, where it joins normal Equatorial thunderstorms, but the former not so widespread now.
