I'm treating this as the official healtwave thread.
Another west is best day by the look of things. Max currently is 26C at Yeovilton at 9am. and a few 24s and 25s around the Somerset / S Wales / N Devon region.
Heathrow 30.1c hottest so far
Don't really care if it reaches 30c or not.
Was on Anglesey yesterday where temps were in the high-20's and it was plenty warm enough (sea was like a millpond).
Could be hotter than yesterday although there is quite a bit of cloud (Ac cas) bubbling up already.

I agree. 25c, calm and sunny is comfortable and useable, 30c is too hot to do anything.
I've nothing against +30c - but I do need to be off work and near to water (even if it's just the hot tub... set to 'tepid')
Well that's a first. I'm under an Amber warning for extreme heat on metoffice. I've never seen an actual weather warning for heat pet alone an Amber one.
They were only introduced last month.

Ah thanks i didn't know this. I did think it strange as we've only had 2 day's of 31C heat and possibly close to 30C again tomorrow. Hot yes but nothing that we haven't experienced many a time in past, but if this is q new thing i guess perfect time to use it.
Minimum of 20.1C in Portland last night so a "tropical night" to use the silly new term.
They've used it a few time over recent years. I wouldn't consider 20C overnight low as tropical - perhaps 24C.
Does this replace the current warning system?
I see there are tables for snow, ice, wind etc complete with likely types of impact.

I think that the heat warnings are just an addition to the existing set of warnings rather than an entirely new system.
OK. I just don't recall seeing the descriptions for each level tabulated like that before, just a much simpler severity/liklihood table. That said thinking about it there were impact descriptions issued with each individual warning so I guess it's essentially the same warning system but presented differently.
So far here it's been:Sat 17/07/21: 29.4°CSun 18/07/21: 29.4°CMon 19/07/21: 29.2°CLooks like Wednesday or Thursday could see a chance for 30°C here.
Extreme heat would be mid to upper 30s, not mid to upper 20s.
Its ridiculous and fits a certain narrative. Can't imagine what that narrative is!
None of those temperatures are "Extreme Heat" in my book. Just a couple of standard summer days. This brainwashing language just keeps going on and on. Extreme heat would be mid to upper 30s, not mid to upper 20s.Its ridiculous and fits a certain narrative. Can't imagine what that narrative is!

Agreed I bet they couldn't wait to issue that warning 😂
I consider 'extreme heat' would be 32c+ in the North and 35c+ in the South, even that isn't all that extreme. A few days of 29/30c I would expect to hit in almost every Summer.
