Yeah a local station had 29.8°C yesterday. Peaked at 28°C today but a smidge cooler now with a pleasant breeze and some fair weather cumulus 🌤️

My time-lapse for yesterday. It got to just over 29°C here, which was much warmer than expected. Also it's interesting how the clouds are moving from the north west, despite recording such a temperature. You would have expected that to have really put a dampener on it.

Yes, Kew seemed to be well above surrounding sites once the 1300 figure came in. It hasn't moved much between 1300 and 1400. That 1300 reading looks a little odd.

31.6C Heathrow and 30.2C Cardiff making it the hottest day of the year for both England and Wales (and presumably the UK as a whole), according to Met Office.

31C here (30.9C) very warm day indeed.

A stroll to the shop and the heat sucks it out of you, but the walk back after being in the air conditioning was brutal lol. 31C in the shade but in the sun much higher.

I recorded 31.9c in my back garden this afternoon.  Too hot for me without the sea or a pool to cool off in!

We went to a pick your own place to get some of the late season strawberries. A taste of what the migrant workers have to deal with!

Car thermometer read 42C when we got back to the car where it had been parked on the grass in the sun for an hour or so.

Think the local max around here was “only” about 29C but the high humidity meant it felt pretty stifling.

This is a very unusual hot spell in that Ireland seems to be getting it as hot as the UK. I haven't seen a rundown on max temps here yet but I would be fairly sure that one or two locations on the island will have exceeded 30c again which is highly unusual for us - our highest ever was 33.1c. I recorded 28.6c today which is my highest ever temperature.

A few 29's yesterday but the general average around 25c to 27c and pretty much the same today, if not slightly cooler. This current spell reminds me of around this time of the year in 2013. Hopefully a precursor to a similar following winter!

So around 29 or 30c in the home counties looking at the recordings - hot but nothing unusually hot temperatures recorded like we have seen over the past three years in July when the temperature reached the high 30's- not like the 36, 37's or even the 38'c  Degrees C we saw in Summer 2018, 2019 and 2020.

We hit 35.3c in Faversham on 26th July 2018.

We hit 38.7c in Cambridge Botanic Gardens on 25th July 2019.

We hit 37.8c at London Heathrow on 31st July 2020.

It's hot enough anyway! But 29c - 31c is nothing compared to previous July's over the past few years. I wonder if somewhere in England will hit the high 30'c this July to continue this trend. I note the pattern is that our hot spells occur end of July or last week of JULY as per above so what will the end of next week bring for the UK extreme heat like at this time in the past or will this trend be broken!? hmm?

Yes it does look like this could be one of those years the annual max doesn’t go that high, unless August brings us a surprise. The run had to end at some point.

Last year with an annual max below 32C was 2010 (31.7C Gravesend, 9th July).

Remarkably, the last year with a max below 34C was 2014.
