Whilst the wording of the warning is a little ott IMO the heat down in the South West has been notable.

I was in North Somerset just 2 miles from the sea yesterday and the car was reading 32C whilst on the move. Incredible heat for the location.

The usual sea breeze just wasn’t present allowing temperatures to soar.

I drove down to Newquay in the evening and it was still 27C at 6.45pm when I arrived. Combined with the humidity. It really did feel like I on holiday somewhere tropical.

Back in North Somerset today and it’s going to be another hot one!

Heathrow peaked at 32.2c so just about 90f.

Doesnt look like anywhere further west can beat the mighty Heathrow at the  moment.

Do you think that is to do with the siting of the weather station..?. runways ? jet exhaust?  I will  get my coat.

Unusual for Heathrow to get the palm on a WNW flow day, I think. It seems to do best in due South or SE airstreams, and other London spots like LCY or St James Park usually win in a WNW. But I think today it was perfectly placed: just far East enough to get maximum land heating en-route, far West enough to avoid all the convective cloud further East.

Still some notably high temps at coastal stations in the west, eg Chivenor maxed at 29.4C.

GEM: 30, 30 (both in West country)

For reference, Arome is going for 24C in Central London this afternoon and 25C tomorrow vs for example GFS saying 23 and 23. So it does feel as if 30C is on, somewhere in the country.

Just quoting your post Tim from the 13th July to see how the models did.

Heathrow got to 31c both Sunday and Monday.  You can see how crap the ECM did it really is poor with max temps in a heatwave.  GEM probably the best but not perfect.

The highest temperature in Devon was North Wyke (just north of Okehampton) at 30.3C.

30C was breached in Wales again today

Usk 30.9C (equals the Cardiff reading yesterday)

Cardiff Bute Park 30.4C

Went up to 31C in here while the Galley Common App put 29C max today as you know the garden always tend to be warmer.  Last year was 34C max in Nuneaton while here was 33.9C

Despite the consistently hot weather over here in Ireland, 30c does not seem to have been breached (a few close contenders though) as of yet.

Tomorrow and Thursday are prime to get above this figure however with the Harmonie forecasting positively hellish temperatures for my location tomorrow and Thurs:

However, this model is prone to exaggeration regarding temp extremes (both high and low) but what it does show is that 30c will most likely be achieved somewhere in the greater region.

From my phone - my Oregon shows 33.3c outside making it the hottest since 9th July 2018.

I think the Met and bbc have got this wrong - a few days ago maxes here were meant to be 27's and 28'c's not 30's. - this is the 4th day in the row we have exceeded the +30c mark. - interesting how the east is cooler than the west!

The only official station that has hit 30C in England today so far seems to be Heathrow with 30.0C at 3pm. But Castlederg in NI was 30.4C at 3pm.

However if you include airports then Exeter is top of the pile so far with 31C.

Northern Ireland has broken it's all time record again. 31.3c in Castlederg County Tyrone.

A remarkable spell for Norn Iron

Hopefully, they can surpass 31.4C. I think hat might be the all time record - I could be wrong though.

Heathrow has nothing on Liverpool Airport though. It's been reading far too high both day & night for weeks but Mon 19th was very impressive. That must have been quite a jet exhaust to get 38C with a northerly!

The Northern Irish record was 31.2c set a couple of days ago in Ballywatticock.

Must have been quite a short but intense surge of heat at Castlederg. At 2pm it was only 27.0C. By 3pm it was 30.4C and then by 4pm it was back down to 28.5C.
