Happy 70th birthday, BBC TV weather broadcasts!  I see that Michael Fish was spared another 1987 rerun on the lunch time coverage today!

This will probably be amended soon. the 12zs likely to keep the low well away from the mainland

BBC forecast with Chris Fawkes showed snow just skimming the extreme south coast. Barely making it across the water to Southampton, so clearly they are favouring it all missing us (at this stage).

Yep, the 6.30pm forecast with Chris Fawkes shows it barely reaching as far north as Southampton.
I guess they are favouring it going into France as per the ECM.

What a Bloomin cheek? The French stealing our snow, going to have to hand out the Valium.🤣

"Grazing the south as the low moves through the channel and France."

And "just a chance" at that.

This chase has gone I'm afraid.

They are just using ecm Op data. Its a waste of time when things are so fluid. Anything could happen next week.

Stav downgrading ‘disruptive snow’ to ‘chance of sleet’   what an anti climax.   I think we all know which will pan out.  Need to look to NW now for some action

Given your location I would have thought you may be happy with the potential for coming week, especially Monday/Tuesday?

...and it's interesting to see that while the NI one is on the yellow track, the Scottish one is on the amber track - i.e. a good chance of a warning upgrade nearer the time!

Well the Met certainly haven't dropped the midweek snow idea.

Looking good for Scotland and NI though for sure:

The BBC's Weather for the Week Ahead is poor if not very poor for the vast majority unless days of patchy rain is your thing.

As Kieran notes, the frontal snow that was being ramped by Exeter a few days ago now slides off into France. Maybe a few flakes for the Isle of Wight was my reading.

Yes, there will be snow showers for favoured parts of Scotland but the impact on the UK population as a whole is going to be very minimal – at least according to the latest video.

Time for it to all change, of course.

I see that the BBC weather outlook is so boring it has made the front page of the BBC News website.

Staying very cold through next week. Northerly winds will bring snow showers inland at times, these most frequent across northern Scotland. Many inland areas will be mainly dry with a good deal of clear/bright weather. During Wednesday there is a chance of an area of snow moving across parts of southern England and Wales for a time though confidence is currently low in the behaviour of this system. Towards the end of the week or more likely over next weekend, the start of a transition back to less cold conditions is likely as Atlantic systems start to arrive from the west brining spells of rain and strong winds. Whilst conditions should gradually turn milder, this transition brings the chance of spells of snow.

Still uncertain for the South at least....

Clickbait by meteorologically challenged hacks no doubt. The video itself is hugely underwhelming unless you live in the far north.

Well they obviously thought it was interesting. That aside the outlook is interesting here in NE Scotland, a couple of hundred miles north in Shetland yes it may be even more interesting.
