No snow but quite a few hail showers rattling through here. The wind really drives up during them, almost to the scale of the wind on Sunday.

Yes - I can confirm it still looks white. Apart from when it looks yellow. Avoid that.

I noticed this too. Although I had to drive to Merthyr Tydfil this morning and I passed through a proper, genuine snow shower on the Heads of the Valley road, so I've finally seen some falling snow this winter. It didn't settle but the surrounding hills had a dusting.

Proper dry flakes here this morning swirling like crazy in the wind.
Dew point and humidity are quite low now though, it's 3C currently..

Nope! Never needed one as a kid playing in the 80s, so don't need one now. I despair with the use of thermals in kids' football these days whenever it's below about 12°C.

Reminds me of a lapel badge from my younger days "Don't eat yellow snow"

I guess that would be "warm white".

A few flakes blowing around in the wind here - I'd forgotten how pretty it was.

Some light sleet & wet snow mixed in with some of the showers here today, although blink and you'd missed it!    More importantly though it's the first snow of Winter here.  Confirms it's been our latest "first snow of Winter" for at least 45 years or so, and could be for much longer than that.   Previous latest start in my records was in the Winter of 2011/12, when the first flakes didn't fall until Feb 3rd.

I've lost count of how many soft hail showers we've had today. They rattle through every few minutes on very strong gusts of wind, the heavier ones result in temporary slushy deposits. The Irish Sea is clear, they are forming on the western slopes of the Pennines.

Its incredible how quick these potent wintry showers dissipate and dry out as they move eastwards across southern england. All showers have pretty much died out by the time they've reached the M23.

Today's slim chance of seeing a wintry flake has gone begging. A snowless winter for Kent is looking odds on now.

8.7c max today, despite 850Hpa's of -7c and 520 dam.

Snowed on and off all day in south edinburgh. Expected more as the metoffice IMBY forecast was always for 3 immediate hours of heavy snow, but it never got sustained at any point. Some of it still lying, but frozen now. Pavements still ice rinks, cheers Edinburgh Council

Pentlands v white, could hardly see them against the sky
